The standard of living is relatively high. Land ownership is widespread.
Living in Costa Rica can be a wonderful experience. First, for most of us expats it costs less to live here than in the US. You will be living in a country that is beautiful with very friendly people. There are hundreds of different flowers, birds, and butterflies, all in this small country. There are mountains throughout the country and beautiful beaches on both coasts. And there are plenty of outdoor activities including zip lining, rappelling down waterfalls, white water rafting, horse back riding, surfing, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and hiking, just to name a few. You can play golf and tennis here as well and of course soccer is very important. If culture is your thing there are several museums, a symphony, several theaters for plays, etc. Medical and dental care here is equal to the US and there are 2 Joint Commission accredited private hospitals. Many of the physicians and dentists have had training in the US, Canada or England and Costa Rica is known for its medical tourism.
